Washington Park & Urban Ecology Center
Neighbors gathered at the Urban Ecology Center at Washington Park for the July meeting of the Martin Drive Neighborhood Association. They walked around Washington Park and learned about the positive impact the community has on the park thanks to the Urban Ecology Center.

Location: Washington Park, Milwaukee

Summer
Winter
For over 10 years, neighbors put red bows on ALL the trees in the neighborhood. It looks great in winter and is great to see as you drive home.
Neighbors really take pride in their homes.
Neighbors walked in Washington Park to learn about the park's history. We also used a tree guide to identify trees in the park. Some trees were imported from other countries.

Washington Bark Dog Day
Over 200 dogs and their familes dressed up Washington Park for Washington Bark Dog Day, a neighborhood sponsored event. There was everything imaginable for dogs. One of the things that I thought was the cool is a running course for dogs. They chase a moving handkerchief that is on a moving lure course. There was different venders, a dog fortune teller, a dog blessing and neighbors checked out police and sheriff dogs. It is of course the best dog event in the city.

The Martin Drive Neighborhood has annual holiday party instead of a neighborhood-wide meeting in the Month of December. Neighbors came and sang in the neighborhood. A party later was hosted by Raymond Duncan. Pat Mueller helped with invitations and organizing the event/party. Neighbors came, brought a dish to pass and had fun :) .

Neighbors Help Light Porches
Neighbors formed a Light Brigade, first changing light bulbs on porches then receiving a grant from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation through the Healthy Neighborhood Initiative to replace 25 porch lights with bright, long-lasting, high efficiency lights. In 2012, the neighborhood plans to help neighbors with porch lights that are wall mounted.
